Practice Policies

Confidentiality

Your privacy is a top priority. All sessions are confidential in accordance with professional ethics and applicable laws. Information you share will not be disclosed without your written consent, except in cases where disclosure is required by law (for example, if there is a risk of harm to yourself or others, or if there is suspected abuse or neglect of a child, elder, or vulnerable adult).

Session Length & Frequency

  • Individual and couples therapy sessions are typically 55 minutes in length.

  • Frequency of sessions is determined collaboratively, based on your needs and goals.

  • Extended sessions may be available upon request and are billed at a prorated rate.

Scheduling & Cancellations

  • Appointments are available in person in NYC (Uptown and Tribeca) and virtually for clients in the U.S. and abroad.

  • If you need to cancel or reschedule, please provide at least 48 hours’ notice to avoid being charged the full session fee.

  • Cancellations with less than 48 hours’ notice are billed in full, except in cases of emergency.

Fees & Payment

  • Session fees are discussed prior to beginning treatment.

  • Payment is due at the time of service unless other arrangements are made in advance.

  • Accepted forms of payment include major credit cards and certain electronic payment services.

  • Dr. Malitzky is an out-of-network provider and does not bill insurance directly. A monthly statement can be provided for you to submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement.

Teletherapy

  • Virtual sessions are conducted via a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform.

  • You are responsible for ensuring a private, quiet, and stable internet connection for your session.

  • Teletherapy is available to clients physically located in states or countries where Dr. Malitzky is permitted to practice.

Communication Between Sessions

  • Email may be used for scheduling and administrative matters only; clinical issues are best addressed in session.

  • Phone calls between sessions are limited to urgent matters and may be subject to fees depending on length and frequency.

Dr. Malitzky is not an emergency service provider.

Professional Boundaries

To maintain the integrity of the therapeutic relationship, social contact outside of sessions (including via social media) is not permitted.
